I wonder what LBJ would have thought of his “Great Society” (wow, sounds like a MAGA slogan) legislation today? Do you think he, unlike the Democratic machines running most of our major cities for decades, would recognize that the well intentioned programs and policies spawned by legislation and executive edicts of his presidency are 60 year old failed models still in use. Ideas that have thrown 13 trillion at the was on poverty and by most metrics perpetuated cultural poverty and cycles of dependency. We have more crime, out of wedlock births, d******eness, greater economic divide, less personal accountability, a mindset supported by politicians and mainstream media that success is an impossibility due to all the barriers that society presents, etc. etc.

You don't seem to know much about Wilson, long before becoming president as a University professor he wrote books about progressivism, you refer to his prejudice against b****s, that he was but he is also one of the fathers of progressivism, he rejected the limitations placed on the federal government by our country's constitution and advocated for the administrative state which would be run by "experts" highly educated elitists who would guide our country to their nirvana, he wrote widely circulated books on the issue. The same goals of progressivism today, the same type of elitists snobs who discount the desires of those whose calloused hands were instrumental in building this country. There is a lot to be said for one's lived experience which to me is often more informative than years of college coursework.

Doesn't seem to me that Biden and his highly educated cabinet secretaries have gotten much right in the last three years.

They would say that a significant portion has been co-opted by an extreme conservative position that has made meaningful legislation difficult if not impossible and they would scratch their head that out of 340 million people Biden and Trump are the two best candidates we could come up with but they would also say some of this view has hatched by what many of them perceive as a left that is fundamentally changing the nation and adopting a much larger role for government in their daily lives. They might say Clinton had it right when he expressed “the era of big government is over.” That being said the answer to your question is a false equivalency if you look at the social and economic carnage and cost to society of policies that have been perpetuated in our large city politics for many decades.

Today of all days they might say it’s a shame we have members like “the squad” or MTG and Matt Gaetz instead of Joe Lieberman!
