Since my wired mouse wasn't working from the USB hub, I thought I'd buy a new cordless mouse. Replacing the hub solved the problem, though. The lit up, but it wouldn't power up. Odd. I'll let it site for a few weeks and try again. "Time heals all wounds." The new one has sixteen ports, with a button to control each one. It comes with a large transformer, and that must be plugged into power before the hub will work.
While doing some organizing here, I came across a box containing miscellaneous computer things, including a dozen cordless mice. Yes, a dozen. They're all Logitech, so I just have to choose the style and color I want. I don't know if all of them work, but I'm pretty sure that I can find one that will work. Crazy!
and I need an old mouse. My new mouse works well with Windows 10 but when I put Windows 3.11 on the same computer the mouse goes so slow. When I tweak the settings to make it goes faster it still doesn't move right. Very difficult to use. Found an old Microsoft Mouse with the ball (not optical) plug it in and it works great.

But with the ball you have to clean the accumulated dirt off the ball and contacts occasionally, the same with an optical mouse it has to be cleaned. Some surfaces that you use the mouse on will cause it to move slowely, that why it is wise to use a mouse pad.

There is nothing wrong with the new mouse or the old mouse for that matters. They are both clean and in good condition. The new mouse works very well with Windows 10. Only when I run Windows 3.11 that it moves very slowly. Something about the mouse driver not compatible. The same computer and the same mouse. So it's just the software difference. However, the old mouse (with the ball) works well with Windows 3.11 because the driver was designed for it.
