Should the County Health Commissioner be a Doctor?

When I was about 16 years old, I would play doctor with the blonde next door. Of course this was before our parents found out.

I don’t think that is what you were trying to relate to us. But it does bring back happy memories of summertime.

Being serious, I think that students who have graduated from medical school should be offered some sort of apprenticeship as being a health commissioner. They could have their fellow students on a health advisory panel and still be in touch with their professors from school. This can become a win-win situation. U

When I started working in a hospital the executive dean wanted me as preceptor for the graduating students who would be interns. I had a curriculum approved and enjoyed educating students to be future pharmacists.

In response to the comment about U.S. presidents and military service, just 14 of the 46 presidents had no military experience. Of the others, experience ranged from being a private in a state militia to general of the army. Eisenhower and Grant are the two best examples of generals becoming president of a post-war country.
