I've just had cataract ops on both eyes, new lenses. Totally painless, have thrown away my glasses and if there was any problem at all it was temporary photophobia (which is not a fear of cameras, just getting used to bright light again).
It's like being given a new life.
Go for it and good wishes.

Research and get the best for the job. As they say " no problem unless something goes wrong" had mine done 30 years ago. The left eye done on a Tuesday, went to a football gameSaturday-- took the left lens out of my glasses - saw super. Did the R eye in a couple weeks, after the surgery, not sure for 2 weeks if I was keeping the eye. It ended fine. People think such surgery is a walk in the park. NO SURGERY Is. Good luck and God Bless.
