Nice shot. Love the saturation on the bird. Is this a crop? My complaint would be that the bird is right in the middle of the frame. Would love to see him a bit more to the left and him placed a little higher in the frame in that he is looking down at you. The fact that the bird is looking right at you creating the interaction between the viewer and the bird adds a bunch to the image. Well done!

Hi Dennis,
It's actually a House Sparrow. Introduced into New York about 1850, it's [population soon exploded and it's found almost everywhere. It's considered invasive and is not protected under any state or federal laws.

Yep. House Sparrow. Nice images, too.

Thanks very much Nalu. I appreciate your fine comments. Yes it is a crop and about as good as I can get for composition. He was surrounded by other branches I needed/wanted to avoid. Also I tend to crop leaving space toward where the subject is looking.
Thanks,
Dennis

Yep, House Sparrow. Introduced from England by someone who wanted to have all of the birds mentioned by Shakespear to be in America! Starlings anyone!
Nice shots too, Dennis!

Thank you very much Mr. B. I appreciate your comments.
I sent the picture to a friend, a pretty avid birder who said he looked it up and it was a House Finch. No offense but I will let you and him argue it out.
Personally I won’t remember the next time anyway.
Thanks again,
Dennis

Sound great Chief. As a kid I did the best I could to eliminate them with BB guns, .22 rifles and various shotguns. The State of NY wouldn’t allow kids to buy dynamite back then. 🙄🤓🤥🥲👍
I appreciate your comments.
