The original is 20.6MB. I have never really paid attention to the size of the files I post, I always thought that 2000 px or so was about right. Learned something new...
A 2000-pixels-wide
photo will usually be 1 to 5 MB, perfect for web sharing, but not for examining closely.
Downloaded from your dropbox link, the raw file data says it's 27.1 megabytes, too large for UHH to accept.
To clarify the "link" comment made earlier, any file can be attached to a UHH message if within file size limits. This is a handy feature if you want to share a pdf, Word doc etc. Below is how a non-image file link displays. It's an Olympus raw file. File size of this one happens to be 20 MB, though many of mine are 17 - 19.

Thank you for your observations, R.G.
A lot of this is, of course, how we all see color differently and what we as individuals prefer. I usually try to keep contrast from getting too high as I prefer a less contrasty look. "Less contrasty" is also very subjective, I suspect.
Brightness is probably related to saturation—more saturation makes the luminance go up. I could have used a blend mode to help with that, but as I get this new-to-me workflow down I will continue to refine the steps.

I use to watch Blakes vids on you tube & still do every once in a rare while. = I don't use PS. He was big into the Blend If & color in those vids. Have fun with your course. Your edit looks much better than the original. What was your first edit from years ago like?

Thanks for looking, it is appreciated. I don't think I ever did anything to this one; it was just a raw file sitting on a backup disk. I picked it for this exercise because of the mix of colors in the trees, mostly.
If you have watched him, you probably know that Blake has a subscription service you can join, called f/64 Academy. I never felt a need to join that, but I did enjoy his YouTube videos because they went into areas that no one else did, especially with color theory, blend modes, and layer stuff like Blend If. Also, he uses the Adobe software the way I do—eschewing Lightroom and instead using Camera Raw for beginning his image processing and then going into Photoshop for the heavy lifting. I don't always agree with his final result, but it's the process I'm interested in.

He uses Point Color in Camera Raw in the beginning, which is a fairly recent addition to ACR, but the Photoshop tools are mostly adjustment layers like Selective Color and Hue-Sat which have been around for a long time.
