The fact that he "came out" now, holds no bearing on whether he can or cannot be prosecuted for what he did before she turned 18.
Of course, it also depends on what state they were in when they had sex and whether or not they crossed any state lines. In Alabama 16 is the age of consent, but if you travel there from Florida, where it's 18, you violated federal law.
Whether any of this matters or not is irrelevant.

Of course, upon further inspection, I find that this mutt and his, "girlfriend" are in Germany. Could they have moved there because of the age of consent in Germany being 14?
