Well I had my Merchants exhibit at City Hall in Brooksville florida . Now the curator wants me to do another photo show . Does anyone have a suggestion for a subject? A few local people have suggested People and their Pets. Or some people said mailboxes. the still others said portraits of older folks who have been together for a very long time. any suggestions from photographers here>?

Allow me to ask a question. What make this town great and better than any city in the states? You are better able to answer this question. Walk around and chat up ordinary people on the street. It may be the closeness of people, the family vibe from restaurants and other stores, it may be buildings with unique and interesting architecture. It may be how people commute in cars or just the sidewalks. It may be all of these. I would like to give a worthy suggestion but I would be way off-base! If you want to know what makes Brooklyn, New York interesting, I can show you. I can’t show someone a great place if I haven’t been there!
Take a walk around for several days. Choose several different subjects. Put together a few sample photos that make the town interesting. I know you are on top of your game, so make it happen!
Get a map of the area. Close your eyes and point to a place on the map.
Go to that area and 'find' the photo ops.

Brooksville is basically the County Seat of Hernando County Florida. There are a few places to eat but mostly Law offices and the big old court house. City hall office building is on the side of a bank.
The City of Brooksville is really only a square mile .There is, opposite the city hall, a Public Library.
You do not see many people walking around.

Photojournalistic style coverage of local small businesses. Captions are very important for this, so take notes!
Local bars and restaurants (NO franchise chain establishments) would be a good starting point. They'll let you do it for the publicity, and might even buy some of your work. In most small towns, there are plenty of examples.
Some of my favorite documentaries of all time are PBS series about hot dogs, ice cream, and barbecue... all unhealthy foods I avoid until special occasions, but certainly a popular topic. Photograph the prep, the staff, the food, and customers who will let you. (Get model releases.)
While I was very supportive of your last effort, I have to say this question is backwards. Usually people who get shows already have projects that they have worked long and hard on completing and editing down to a strong body of work. They don't say "I have a show coming up, what should I take pictures of?"
Because it is city hall, they would probably like an essay on something that relates to the town.
Your last one was Business owners and their businesses. Similar civic themed pictures could involve Police, Fire & Rescue, Firefighters, Public works. etc Other themes could be Born & Raised-Life long residents, Senior citizens, Schools and children. But it should be something you care about.
I would also point out that photojournalistic projects often take months or years
If this were a regular gallery or museum , they would never ask. Photographers would approach them with a body of work with a coherent theme.
I do not mean to discourage , but never show work unless you are proud of it. If there is no story you really want to tell, you won't be successful by asking other folks "What should I take pictures of"
You would be better off telling City Hall that you would love to have another show, and that when you have work that you are proud of, you will come back.
Good Luck
Good Luck
Mr Burkholder: You have given me a better suggestion than I had proposed. Thank you
You're in FL, what about lighthouses ?? Or botanical gardens ???

Sunsets and sunrises. Maybe clouds.
Light houses, sunsets, etc, thaz what you get for asking here. How about kittens ? Surely you could just surf some artist websits online.
A great use of UHH would be to browse the UHH Photo Gallery and then avoid everything you see there.
Im involved in three simultaneous long term subject based projects, thousands of frames, at least two years per subject, and all located within 500 feet of home. (Hint hint.)
FWIW as an example, my latest continuing project that is barely weeks old involves rain. Near home again, but this time its about two or three miles. Also FWIW, I did not "think it up". I saw something, and that something is repeatedly available, so it becomes a project.
I go to Brooksville once a year for the Florida Classic Bluegrass/Country Music Festival. It is a nice little town. I would be inclined to do a collection of local unique spots and local people. Maybe all black and white shots. I saw a lot of local color on my way to the Chinsegut Conservation area, but as an “ outsider” was not comfortable walking around taking random photos.
