Those were gorgeous cars, and a 4-speed no less ( the main reason I hate automatics is often the lack of compression braking, and I'm so used to the big truck 10-speeds). I read that the hawk was to compete with the T-Bird but in those days (including the Avanti), Studebaker, in my humble opinion, had much better styling. It took the T-Bird a while to catch up.
