Need help tethering my Canon R5 to my 2015 MacBook Pro

I am trying to figure out how to tether my Canon R5 to my MacBook Pro. I am hoping to use the Eclipse Maestro program developed by Xavier Jubier to drive my camera during the April eclipse.

I have a USC-C cable (male USC-C) on both ends but my 2015 Laptop has a USB-3 connection. I have a USB-C-to-USB-A (or maybe its USB-C to USB-3) anyway, I can plug the cable into my R5 and the other end (with adapter) into my Laptop but the camera isn't being seen. Even when I open EOS Utility 3, that program doesn't see that I have my R5 connected.

Any ideas what I'm doing wrong? Does tethering require a special cable? Maybe my Adaptor I;m using is USB-A but needs to be USB-3 (they look the same).

Thanks in advance

I can't help you but someone may be able to if you move your post to the Main Photography Discussion instead of the Astronomical Photography section. You'll get more views there.

Well, thanks, but after several tries, I managed to get the camera tethered with a USB cable, but then the Eclipse Maestro program told me that my Canon R5 camera is not supported. Argggg!

If it isn't one thing, it's another! I had a similar support problem with my older version of Lightroom and ended up switching to Luminar Neo. Good luck!
