I have just discovered by accident that if you upgrade your Photoshop Elements (I have 11) it is being offered at a reduced price of U$119.99/£70.90 from U$149.99.

I had decided not to purchase a subscription-based program and accidentally clicked on my Elements 11. The advert came up and I have purchased it.

Hopefully, this may be of interest to some members who already don't know and to those that do, please accept my apologies for bothering you.

I don't know where this came from, or what it involves, but Photoshop Elements 2024 is $99.99. I have been seeing ads where it was reduced to $60, but that offer may have ended.

I was looking just yesterday and found PSE 2024 for $99.99, the upgrade for $79.99. In the past I had seen upgrades for $59.99 or $69.99. Inflation has hit everything.

I wasn't aware that Adobe had upgrades to Elements. I thought it was just a new version every year, with occasional offers for temporary reductions. Also, places like Amazon often have slightly lower prices.

I think you are right. Recent ad here had Elements on sale for $60 Full version, not an upgrade.

Upgrade, in the case of PS Elements, simply means moving to the newest version, as Heather explained. The $149 price is for a bundle that includes video editing.

In the past you have seen upgrades for $59.99 and $69.99, but was it for PSE 2024?

As I suspected, Linda. Thanks.

I didn't think that Adobe had upgrades either. I came across it by accidentally clicking on the ICON on my compute

I thought there were only subscriptions available. Perhaps people are leaving Adobe in droves and the offer of an upgrade would entice us back and it did for me.

What a waste of money, that is: a paid "upgrade" of any aspect of PSE.

You might say, "well, I bought a new camera and shoot RAW." That's worse, as PSE is an 8-bit editor for any of their layers-based tools. For the JPEG shooter, these 8-bit files are edited just as effectively in PSE-10, like me, as the 2024 latest release. Granted, there's more functionality / stability in the current software, but is it important? Why not just subscribe to the entire 16-bit software suite of LR & PS if you're going to pay every year?? Or, pay even more than once ...

You do have a point, but what suits one doesn't suit all.

As you know with every upgrade they only ever upgrade a little so it wouldn't be worth it upgrading every year.

Photography is only my hobby and therefore I am not a prolific printer of my photos, unlike those that sell their photos or photography is their profession. Most of our photos are not printed but stays on on computer.

Also, several of us have other programs that are not subscription based.

I see no reason why I should pay over £108 a year on a subscription based program.

At 10+ years, possibly a worthwhile payment for a 1-time update. But, in the replies, we also see one UHH community member voicing what others do in private: paying more money to Adobe for a crippled software on a regular basis. My reply was to that audience: why? why not just subscribe? More importantly, the RAW shooters in the community are entirely wasting their money on PSE.

Judging by what I see online, I don't think people are leaving Adobe in droves over a $ 10-a-month subscription fee, and Photoshop Elements has never been a part of the subscription model anyway, which is why some people who have an irrational hatred of the subscription but still want Photoshop, buy that instead.

Also, I recently bought a new phone and it shoots RAW. I use my phone more than I use my camera and yes it prints rather good A3 photos for camera club competitions. Now that may surprise you. I am sure you know how critical the Judges are at camera clubs.
