Think this is bad? Ha! Years ago some custom boat makers from Montana made a sale in California. They decided to deliver the boat and waterski all the lakes they could on the way down. Fine fancy van to tow this razu big block ( open headers loud in upright position ) mega hp drag " ski " boat to the new owners. They put in at the first boat launch at Coeur' d Alaine lake in Idaho, ( a notoriously steep one ). Went out had great time came back and positioned the boat for recovery. The guy in the boat noticed he had lost his fancy ski life belt. He decided to go look for it. Still running very loud , gave it hell and backed up not knowing his buddy had already started hooking the boat to the trailer which is naturally hooked to the van. Horsepower and noise won out. The guy in the boat could not hear his buddy screaming ( to no avail ). By the time the guy in the boat turned around, much to late. His partner was standing on top of the van in water to his knees. There were some great pictures back then. Funny.
Once in a while I watch the Atlantic Highlands, NJ boat ramp when I ride the bike path there. Sometimes.... Usually, a transmission or emergency brake will let go & the ole wheel chocks safety measure wasn't used. But at least they were facing the right way. Once in a while someone will forget to put the drain plug in before launch but will usually make it back o0ut before sinking. People will sit there & watch the circus.
Down at the main boat launch on Coeur'd Alaine Lake, Idaho, it's popular to go down on weekends and watch all the action ( spectator sport ). People that don't have a clue what they are doing, the accidents , and fist fights. Best part it's free.
