Tomorrow we in england find out the results of the Levinson enquiry with regard to policing what the press can or cannot report in the newspapers, my question to all UHH members is..... could this also have a knock-on effect for photographers ????

well Don....basically, its a report by some toff called lord levinson into the complaints about what and how the press gather their info. It really is so in depth that i cannot do it justice here but essentially, certain factions are hoping for what seems to be some sort of gagging order policed by government. Might be better Don if you google it on BBC news.

Ahhhhh the liberal effect is reaching the Home Nation eh.

No pictures allowed that are demeaning to a culture, a person, a race, a police action, riots or beatings.

Only photos allowed are landscapes and animals (not breeding or eating though )

It's not so much what they report. It's more about how they get the information. Hacking into text messages etc.

I agree but then... how the hell they gonna get dirt on bent politicians etc ? If the government police what they can print we will never hear of another dirty politician again!

Ahhhhhh I wonder if your legislatures are LAWYERS like ours.

You ought to see some of our laws. Gobbily Gook and words only lawyers know and they post them and pass them.

I have never, NEVER in 70 years seen a law passed by Congress come before the American People for a popular vote. Not even the pay raises the Congress write for themselves and vote on by themselves.

Good luck

I doubt it will affect photographers. As you rightly point out, the inquiry was prompted by 'phone tapping etc. I sincerely hope that the law will not be invoked - as you say, there will be no more reports of crooked politicians!!!!!!!!

They want to stop the press from phone tapping etc', but they in partnership with America have been doing the same thing since 1947, it is called Echelon, if you dont know what that is type it into Google.

I agree, but what has that to do with 'phone tapping by the press?

The principal with this inquiry was all to do with mobile (sorry, Cell) phone, so called, hacking.
What has been happening is that the press has got hold of the phone numbers of a number of celebrities and listened to their voice mails.
Now, when you get a new phone they tell you that the PIN number is a factory default (1234, 9999 etc.) and strongly recommend that you change it immediately.
All these celebrities who have given evidence to the inquiry have really been saying, "I'm too stupid to follow simple instructions." They deserve to have their phones hacked and their dirty linen aired in public. They should not have legislation passed to protect them just because they're film stars or politicians.
