I was putting my equipment away when it flew right at me. No chance to change settings or adjust speed, just shoot. I was happy to catch this one.

You’re right, I had my camera setup for ducks and didn’t have time to step it down

The f stop should have been f8 or f16. I had been studying a famous bird photographer and he says to use the lowest f stop of your lens. I have always used rule 16 with great success but thought I would try this. I would say, it’s a classic failure. Back to rule 16.

I had setup for shooting ducks but my f stop was wrong and the speed was 500. Should have been 800-1000. I had waited 2 years going to this lake to get an Egret in flight.
