I want folks to realize that "Stumps" may have other meanings that go beyond tree stumps.

When you consider that what remains of a limb when an amputation has been done is called a "stump", isn't it true that what remains from a tree limb that has been pruned can also be called a "stump"?

Is that a rock setting on top of the stump in the second shot? I wonder how that got there?

I cut a bunch of dead elms today and probably made eight stumps, but there was nothing artistic about any of them.

Thanks for looking and for your question and comments! Much appreciated.

P1- Yes, that is a rock on top of the stump. The party that cut the tree down placed it there. I can only guess their reason was to block any rainfall or snowfall from promoting new growth.

This one stumped me...It is a stump and there were keys stuck in it. Don't think it would run! And I never saw a Saturn that looked like this stump.

P1- Nice set! I really appreciate your bringing out another meaning of stump! Situations can really stump us sometimes!

Another petrified Stump-but much larger. One of the most interesting areas to photograph. Highly recommend it.
