A friend of mine, Andrew, owns an auto shop, "Auto Transformers". He restores, does new builds, crash repairs, etc, etc, just about anything to do with cars.
He/they do some lovely work.

As much as I admire these people they are really the "last cowboys" of our society. The can be found anywhere in the country and if they like they can move to anywhere they want. They are completely unregulated by anything but public opinion. They produce things not normally offered the buying public. They are incredibly creative individuals. They are limited by their own self-restraint. They take immense pride in their work and no two items produced are alike. They do not suffer at the hands of labor unions. They are their own critics and dance to no one else's music. They operate in a totally free environment. If someone dislikes them or their products they do not have concerns, they accept isolated negativity. The enjoy much more freedom in their work than do most others. They are completely self-employed and have no need for others to control their lives. They share many things with photgraphers and are kind of lucky, aren't they?
