I cannot unscrew a thin 95mm UV filter on my Nikon 200-500mm. I’ve tried gently taping it, tried to slightly tighten it, then reverse it, rubber bands around the filter frame for a better grip…all to no avail! Lens & filter inside a hard case in home and not banged around very much to loosen any grit\dust, etc., et al. Any good hints on this for me? Help!

Maybe put the lens, filter down, on a rubber jar lid removal aid, press down slightly to get traction on the rubber and twist while pressing down. This will distribute the force evenly on the filter ring without "pinching' the ring.
Any excessive force on the filter ring, like when using fingers, MAY deform the filter ring enough to pinch the ring, making certain points tighter on the thing it's mounted on.

Maybe try laying the filter on ice for a bit to help contract (shrink) the filter ring. But not too long, you want the filter ring colder than what it is mounted on. Too long, both pieces will be the same temp again.

They put uniform pressure around the ring without "pinching" the ring like fingers would.

Personally, I've found 'filter wrenches' to be a cruel joke. I stopped falling for this scam when I ordered a OXO Good Grips Jar Opener with Base Pad, useful for stuck filters and everyday jar lid problems.

Of course you did, and I have found the precise opposite.

Mr Sager: I have successful trained my 8 yr old Labrador/Dalmatian mix to grab the lens tightly in his mouth while I twist it to loosen.

If you have one of those square rubber sheets used to grip stuck lids, you might try that.

Yep, as terryMc says, "Filter wrench". That's what did the job for me after trying everything else known to mankind.

Put the lens in its case...and leave the case and lens in the fridge...let it cool way down...the filter will unscrew.
Keep the lens inside the case...closed.

Depending on how much of a lip there is , if you grab the filter with a plies at that lip , and try to rotate , this might do the trick . dont grab it around , but in a vertical position .

You need a thin piece of rubber which has been mentioned . Physical theropist has this in rolls that people use for exercise . Stop by and they will cut you off a piece about 5 inches square at no charge .

I had the same issue, quickest way I found was u placed lens in freezer for about 10 minutes just long enough for filter to chill
