White Light Solar - Herschel Wedge

A reasonable day for some solar imaging.

Used a QHY462C camera on an Astro-Tech 65EDQ telescope with a Hershel Wedge and Solar Continuum filter, mounted on an iOptron CEM26 EQ mount.

Shot eight video sessions of 1000 frames each and processed for the best five frames in PIPP then manually picked the best of the best for final postprocessing in Lightroom/Photoshop.

I've included the results from six of the eight sessions, one of which is a panorama of two sessions.

As mentioned in a previous post, Active Region 3590 is HUGE. I've included three images of this sunspot simply because it is rather impressive, all of which are slightly different!

The Earth is shown for reference (to show how small we are).

Enjoy!

The Herschel Wedge works very well. Sadly I only have one camera and scope that has the infocus to use it!
