I’ve used neck straps for 48 years. I now love having the strap off of my neck.
I have an adapter even for my longer lens. The longer lens would be too much weight for the lens mounting system.

Take a look at the Black Rapid Traditional strap. I really like mine for comfort and convenience.

I use one similar to this when taking a long walk. I allows me use of both hands should I need them. But I always have a wrist strap on the camera and I almost always have it wrapped around my wrist, just in case it should slip out of my hand accidentally.
