Difference in Mbs on similar subjects.
Please may I have any info: the gray/white horse is 10Mbs, but the chestnut is 14Mbs. Is this because of the colour difference. Both were shot at 1/800, 5.6. 8000ISO. Body R5, lens canon 70-300. Raw using Canon DPP processing.
Secondly, I will repeat the visit tomorrow, but use 5-6000 ISO, and rely on brightening to see if this improves the clarity.......any advice, please ?
If you are referring to file size, file size is dependent on the complexity of the image.
The more complex the image, the larger the file size.
All images will not be the same file size.

Don't use DPP to process high ISO photos. Software like PL-7 or LR do a MUCH better job.
What is 5-6000 ISO. How far away were you? I am asking because a strobe might help. Peter
"Is this because of the color difference?" Yes. Shoot a blue sky, then shoot a multi-colored field or bouquet of flowers to demonstrate one extreme comparison (complexity, as Longshadow states).

Strobe at a horse show? Eeek!

I create a nothing image just a plain gray image and save a JPEG the file size is very small.

For this thread as demo? I should have said shoot white, not blue?
I understand. Many thanks

Not for this thread but yes as a test I did a long time ago. I just did a medium gray image of 61MP and the file is less than 1MB in size.

Probably about 20 yards. Thankyou.

Thankyou, makes sense but I thought it worth asking.

Thankyou. I understand and it is helpful.

Thanks, makes sense . My query was based on only the coat colours being differet so will do as you suggest.
