If you had the two lenses listed in the title and a 70-200 lens and wanted to trade one of the 24+ lenses (both 24+ lenses are f/4), which one would you keep?

I'd keep the 24-105. Greater range, Probably require a bit less lens changing than the 24-70.

Ruthlessrider your query belongs in the Main Photography Forum not in the Members Buy/Sell/Trade -- Classifieds
Here is a link to the Classifieds Rules

Since you've been a UHH member since Jul 14, 2019 with over 580 posts this is unaccepted.
a.k.a. Trying to "Spin" a generic Main Forum query with a rhetorical question is denying legitimate Buy/Sell/Trade post the priority they warrant.

As such I've reported it to the Member's Buy/Sell/Trade Admin.

There's just enough details missing, it's hard to make the 'best' choice. What brand? We'd have to assume Canon's EF models right?

Given Canon's v I vs v II models, the answers differ, even for the f/4 models. Even the f/4 models of the 70-200 differ based on IS vs non IS.

The answers again differ based on the specific model involved. The issue is not as simple as "the two lenses listed in the title" as there aren't "two lenses" in the Canon catalog that fit into that thread title. No wonder Thomas went off ....

Personally, I'd seek the EF 24-105 f/4L IS II as the resulting lens to have at the end of the transaction. It's the superior functional choice between the 24-70 f/4 IS and all the multiple 24-105 f/4 zooms.

I'd still rather keep the 24-105.

No way of knowing...if it was Sony...you take the latest 24-70mm.

Typically...if more reach is incorporated, the more difficult it is to make a great lens.

I'd still go with the 24-105...
I seriously doubt someone looking at a print would know if the "quality" was slightly different.
Especially if they had nothing to compare.
I primarily use an 18-200, the results are what they are...

When we were in Germany I had a 24-70 and my wife had a 24-105. Based on our experiences I would keep the 24-105. On our next overseas trip I am buying a second 24-105 so we both have one.

Reality tends to be much simpler than the "guru version" of proudly showing how many variables can be introduced that dont make much difference anywho.

Reality is that we can all push our personal preferences, but in the end either choice will serve him verrrrrry well.

---------------------------------------------

My main longer than normal lens is 70-300. What I tuck in beneath that suits me for my own reasons. I have both of the 24-XX(X). Which one I carry varies with my intentions, which acoarst also varies. But ... therein lies the one true ultimate answer: Get both (and do NOT ask anyone which to get first).

That would depend on what kind of photography you do. I would need a LOT more info.
But, my main lens is the 24-105 f4 Sony I use all the time when on vacation.
