Has anyone used the EF 100-400 f/4.5-5.6L IS ll USM in conjunction with the lens adaptor and a 1.4 extender on an R5? If so were you happy with the results? Does this set up play well together?

Get a adapter fron D lenses to R lenses. You don't need the Canon version as it has no glass as it is a hook up for adapting the different sizes and transfer the electronics.

The question in the original post was... does this combination work well together, not what adaptor to buy. I already have the combination on hand but have never used them together all at once.

Thank you for your reply

You already have all 3 components on hand ?

If so, then no need to report my experience, which would just be second hand news.

Used it on RP and R7, worked really well. Then, when I read an article about the RF 100-500L being a bit better, I bought one of those. It is also an excellent lens. So I can go out with both bodies having a fairly long zoom lenses that doesn't break my back. At 78, with sciatica in the left leg, I am not real fond of carrying my Tamron 150-600 G2 while walking around.

To answer your question Yes with acceptable results. The RF 100-400mm IS USM becomes a 140-560 mm f/8-11 IS USM.

I too don’t understand the need for the OP to ask the question when he already has the 3 components and can simply try themself. Oh well.

Trying to avoid pitfalls. "The stupidest question is the one never asked"
