Something I've noticed here

Why do folks complain about posting a photo in the wrong section, when the new primary listing comes up with the sections mixed in the first place? Sure one can filter down to a specific section if they want to, but why criticize someone for posting in the wrong section when the start page is mixed up anyway? I guess some folks just aren't happy unless they have something to complain about!

Beats me.
I never notice in what section anything is posted, I just read the posts.
They're in my feed.

But some are sticklers for "protocol".....
Either that or OCD.
...We have some English majors here also.

The "default section" for posting is the last section you were viewing.
People simply don't bother looking or changing it.

The sections aren't mixed up; they are each exactly where they're supposed to be. See "all sections" at the bottom of this page. You can subscribe or unsubscribe to whichever you want to follow (or not).

You are referring to the format of the revised digest, which Admin tweaked* to give you back what you miss. The layout of this photo forum, UglyHedgehog.com, has not changed significantly in the 11+ years I've been here, except there are now 50+ sections instead of 20

*The tweak is mentioned here.

With regards to public complaints about where a topic was posted, that's ego and having nothing better to do than derail a thread before it has barely been seen. There is a "report issue" button below each post in every thread, so a user can alert Admin without having to clutter the thread with nonsense.

But they have to have their thoughts known.....
They can't do it quietly.

Exactly. That's why I said "ego" is the prime factor, and maybe boredom?

I think the "default section" is the "Main Photography Section"...🤔

There is that.
Also, there may be other ulcerations.

In younger years I grew up around.....and in later years have worked around, people who seem absolutely unwilling to be, or uninterested in being, a witness to others being contented or happy. They will go out of their way to try to wipe the smile off someone's face, and discourage the joy out of someone's soul.

I'm guilty of showing my unwillingness to be compliant with their apparent efforts to ridicule happiness out of others.

When logged in, clicking "home" takes you to your subscribed sections. "Main Photography Discussion" will always be at the top of the list because Admin recently removed our option to unsubscribe from that section.

If people were to navigate to the section they want, and then click "create new topic," there would be less confusion for them, and less fodder for the tedious trolls.

That would requite thinking and action.

Simpler just to select from the pick-list?
But that would require thinking also...
