Milky Way vantage point in South Tucson

I am looking for a good vantage point to capture the Milky Way early tomorrow morning in South Tucson, AZ. I am located just off I-10 near the Pima County Fair Grounds and wondering if anyone has shot the MW in this area. It will appear in the SE around 4:00 am, but will not be high in the sky, so mountains could pose an issue. If any of you have experience in this area, it would sure help and be most appreciated. TIA!

I would think you would seek out the highest vantage point in your area that puts the horizon the lowest in your viewfinder. Go to Google maps and turn on the terrain layer so you can view contour lines, elevations and terrain to help find a location for the best view. Also, if there is a local camers store you could ask the staff if there is a best spot the locals use for celestial photography.

Capturing the Milky Way is a summer month event... After checking my stellarium app, I don't think you're gonna see much of the core of the Milky way... I just don't want you to be disappointed...

Up for a ride? Sonewhere in Organ Pipe Nat'l Monument there is dark sky. Maybe not now, but in spring/summer it sounds perfect.

Suggest you look at the app and website, "Photopills." It is quite detailed and allows the user to plan, exactly, for this kind of photography. It takes a lot of learning but worth it based off the results I see from users.

The Milky Way over mountains is a nice framing.

Perhaps a ride up Mt. Lemmon? E. Mt. Lemmon Hwy becomes Contry Rd. 39. Take it to the top, leave early.

Drive over to Kitts Peak observatory, it must be up there for a reason!
