More than 50 Sony A9III at the recent Super Bowl. Sony users only, what do you think about this ?

PetaPixel reports that “More than 50 a9 III cameras and 145 lenses were available for photographers and Sony Pro Support was on hand, too."

Kyle Rivas was one of the Sony photographers and he told to PetaPixel:
"I say if this camera’s power allows me to think at the same pace as an athlete like Mahomes and Kelce, I choose the Sony a9 III every time."

This is in addition to the Top News Services like Associated Press, Gannett Media including USA Today, Canadian Press and UK's Top New Service that exclusively use Sony gear for all their staff photographers and staff videographers, and whom already had their A9III in advance .

Cheers

That just shows they are all being incentivized or coerced into using a particular brand by contract or job requirement. I'd rather see a diversity of choices by thinking photographers.

I really do not care what they use at football games. United press international switched out Canon for Sony a few years back.
I personally do not want a low megapixel camera for my wildlife photography. I use the Sony a1 and will not buy the Sony a9III because of the low megs and now their is only $500.00 difference in price, my Sony a1 is much better than the a9III for wildlife. The global shutter in my opinion is not a game changer for my photography. If I was a portrait or wedding photographer, then flash at any shutter speed would make a difference.
I believe Sony made a mistake pricing this camera so high, we will have to wait and see what the sales figures shake out to be later this year for the average shooter.

I'm with Billnikon. The a9III doesn't make sense for me with the smaller sensor and the global shutter is not a big deal. I never see the affects of rolling shutter with any of my shots. I'm happy using my a1.

Did they take a knee when the National Anthem was played? Sony probably paid for it.

Nope. Nor am I. We shouldn’t even be reading this thread.

The last seconds of the game was all that mattered.

Camera brand wouldn't make a difference.

More important was what TV you had to watch it on.

Of course My Sony TV!

Sounds like a marketing promotion. I would have been more impressed if the cameras had not been provided free.

The average shooter is not going to buy one because they don't want to spend that much money on a 24MP camera with a base ISO of 250.

Bur more than 24MP is a waste of resolution.

The kinds of subjects that might benefit from a global shutter are usually well lit. A lower base ISO isn't going to help either.

The A9 III might be right for a niche market but not for the average UHH member.

When this OP posts, the losers come out!

The A9lll fits a certain type of shooter, whether they be a professional or a hobbyist. Sony is right to push the boundaries of technology in order to provide us with a choice that we can decide what is best for our particular need.

I don't need the speed of the A9 series, so I never bought one. But that does not mean I am not impressed with what Sony has done, and I know it will help the performance of the someday to be released A7v, which I will purchase.

So you losers should crawl back under the rocks from whence you came!

Smaller than which camera? The A9III has full frame sensor.

Well acoarst. Like breeds like.
Its follow the leader. Birds of a feather.
Open with a loser and downhill from there.
Its by now a reliable well established pattern.
It sells well, so it gets repeated endlessly.
Just another predictable sit-com.
Chairs and bust do yawl.
