If you are remotely interested in motorsports, the 24-hour Rolex 24 at Daytona endurance race is a MUST for photography buffs. The event will challenge your skills with of all kinds of shots needed; cars standing still, cars passing by at 175-200mph, night shots, fireworks, close-ups, zooms, etc. After wanting to attend in person for over 25 years it exceeded my expectations.

When you don't "pan", they're all standing still.

Very nicely shot set. The pan shot is nicely done. Personally I have no doubt that those cars are not standing still

Awesome!
Nice work.

I have been to plenty of car racing events in New Zealand over the years, and Indy in Gold Coast, Australia, and I even race karts way back. However, most of it was well before got into photography or had a decent camera. One of these days I get down to the local kart track to take some pics, and bring back some fond memories at the same time.

Agreed, but they appear so in a still image if you don't slow the shutter speed and pan.

The Rolex is Nirvana for the car enthusiasts. Sunlight, and the lack of it covers the entire race. Few participants or spectators see the entire event. The many different teams are the who's-who of racing. Parts of the cars break and have to be fabricated on the spot. Le Mans give the French a chance to catch up to the world but the Rolex sets the pace for an entire season of racing like no other series offers. I attended my first Indy 500 in 1963 and enjoyed it enough to go back 45 more times. But Daytona and Rolex offer something that possible could draw me back to attending a race again. If only it wasn't held in Florida..........
