I have a D60 that I have just started re-using. Should I spend time re-learning the 60 or purchase a refurbished 5100?

I would re-learn the D60 since you already have it. Once you are comfortable with the controls and processes, then take a look at an upgrade. The D5100 is a fine camera for the money, but the D3200 is also a good choice for the same price. And the D5200 is set to release in the US around Christmas or just after.

I had the D60 , one of my BEST CAMERAS ever ~ I'd keep it if I were you . Also its not costing you anything to keep !

I have a D60, but also purchased a D5100. The D5100 has a lot of great features, and I particularly like its ability in low light. Attached is one I recently took at ISO 3200 - hand held. I think the advice to start out with your D60 makes a lot of sense. And I'm sure Shooter's suggestion to also consider the other two models when you're ready to upgrade is also excellent.

What can they possible add to the d5200 ? And will you be able to use the lenses from the D5000 ?

First, it gets the D3200 sensor. There are also menu upgrades, but no more outside controls unfortunately. And it does not get an internal AF motor so it will still need the AF-S lenses, and as such it will use all the D5000 lenses.
