In working with my squirrels, I have often seen what I call the elevator pose. This is where a squirrel gets on its hind legs. It can be used to express various emotions, such as a greeting, a means of getting your attention, or seen when another squirrel is approaching.
One day, as I was working with a squirrel, out of the corner of my eye, I spotted another squirrel close by in this pose and staring directly at me. He looked adorable, but he was coming down from his pose when I saw him. I apologized and asked if he could do it again. Without missing a beat, he immediately resumed the pose and held it as I, in shock, captured the moment. It's not the first time I've had experiences like this. As a Speech Pathologist, I can't help but wonder if we, as humans, are the ones who don't understand their language. Just saying!
While some images may not be tact-perfect, I chose to share them because of what was captured.
I hope you enjoy!
