Failed Church

A lot of Churches are suffering from an older congregation dying off and not enough of the younger crowd to carry on.
I had opportunity to gain access to this church and spent a little time photographing some of the details.
I was told that the stained glass was made by Tiffany although it can't be verified at this time. The cornerstone shows a date of 1894.

Beautiful stained glass! Our former church which was built in 1907 has two magnificent large windows that are supposedly from the Tiffany workshop and are insured for a million dollars. Your example has features that are similar.

Your images of these windows are really nice. The windows are beautiful. I do hope some effort will be taken to preserve them.

Has anyone thought of contacting Tiffany's to see if they have a record of making the windows? Second, are there any church records left...maybe at the local library...or contact the local historian.... Those windows are too nice to NOT know who made them.... I think I could spend all afternoon shooting close-ups of those windows.... And while talking to historian, maybe see about cataloging all the windows for local historic records, 'cause one day, when you least expect it, that building will be coming down (unless someone turns it into a mid-, upper-scale restaurant).
...oh, and another thought... Has there been an effort to get the church listed on state or national register? Does the state have an office of historic preservation that might be interested in saving/documenting the building?
