It was only matter of time that AI generated images would make their debut in mainstream media...

This one appeared in a political article in the most important newspaper in Argentina today.
Source: https://www.clarin.com/politica/javier-milei-compartio-provocativo-meme-radicales-redes-luego-cayera-ley-omnibus_0_e7cKkSebhE.html

It has all telltale signs of a crude AI generated image (like the extra finger in the guy with the blue t-shirt) and it is far inferior to the ones I'm able to create, but the trend is clear. No more commercial graphic artists, photoshopers, etc. This one was made in a couple of minutes, not hours.

Still the letters on the t-shirts are correct and also the image of the argentine congress building in the background is correct.

How about the same face?

Now, this should be posted in a different section like chit-chat.

It is intentionally the same... they want to make a political point that both parties (UCR and KK) are the same thing.

Maybe... but my point was not to talk about (spicy) argentine politics, but about the impact AI is already having on commercial photography, and - in general - graphic arts.

In the distant past (a couple of months ago) to create something like this would have taken a photograph to grab the people, and then a Photoshop operator to create the whole composition. Not any longer.

AI images don't belong in General Photography. People could post all the AI generated images they wanted there, and claim it's to show their impact on photography.

I prefer to have these in general photography as it shows us what is trying to be passed off as real photography. Put it somewhere else and I would never know about it.

And the agree that this result is really poor.

Did you attempted to actually read the post before chocking at the AI abomination?

I wasn't posting an AI image, but sharing the fact that a newspaper with 15 MILLION READERS, already use the tech.

If the house would be burning... Would you like the fact to be hidden from you?

AI is effecting the overall graphics world and posts like this belong where it will get the largest number of readers possible. Wake up out there and try to understand AI, ignoring it will not make it go away.

There is movement afoot (Meta is among the leaders of the push) to label (both graphically and digitally) AI imagery in order to distinguish it from original creative work. That would be a very good thing as AI is introducing chaos and distrust in the universe of visual arts.

The second They begin to label Ai work, someone will be working on a way to by pass the label.

Besides... The newspaper's editor wasn't fooled. He knowingly ordered the AI job, because he got what he wanted in a couple of minutes for a fraction of the regular cost.

Of course they will. But that does not minimize the importance of the effort. We can whine about it or we can work on ways to mitigate the damage. AI is creating a mess (not just in visual media, but in print media as well).
