Now that it is winter, they are coming around my feeder.
When I wait, I get to see them.
This is the guy that tries to control the feeder.

Nice capture! How are the hummers doing in our current near hurricane weather in CA. Or are you north of all of it?

Thank you
We had some winds, in the 60 mph range for a few days, but that is gone now. We had a couple of days of real bad weather, but So Cal is getting the worst.
It was forecast to be a lot worse here, but it looks like that didn't come to pass.
We got maybe 3 inches of rain, they got up to 14 inches of rain in some places.
The hummers just sat on the feeder and drank, even when the wind was blowing. The bully didn't try to chase the others away, but he is back to being the King again.
Great capture Topcat, glad you didn't get it too bad

Thank you.
It was forecast to be bad, and it was for around 5 days, but then the storm changed track, and we didn't get much more. There were hurricane force winds along part of the coast a bit south of us, but that was only for a day or two.
Really nice again, topcat! I like the wing motion, rather than frozen.

Thank you, Chief.
I like the wing action, and I go back and forth on it.
I try to get it when I get the shore birds, but when I try it with them, I wind up just getting blurry birds.

Well, the way it usually goes is the bigger the bird, the slower the wing beat. So you would have to go with a really slow shutter speed to show motion in the wings. Which, of course, translates to motion in the birds' body. I'm not sure how you would get around that?

I tried. I even tried to get some intentional camera movement, to get a good blur on the bird, but nothing worked.
I will keep trying, but I am afraid that they will be leaving sometime soon.
I even tried multiple exposures, hoping that would work. No, it didn't come close.
I have seen some nice ICM, but I can't make it.
