STARENA, DA CURVES! and more...

Allow this, Ms. Starena is the perfect example of what is happing in our modern age. Well, at least what I see as a shift in the reality of 'figure' modeling. Boys, the strip clubs, known as Gentleman's Clubs are back. As the saying goes, nothing stays the same and everything changes.

Your thinking, what? What changed? The answer is $Money$. The money changed. In America, a society driven by the dollar, what changed was the way the women make money. Modeling is just not making it, while strip clubs (call them by their real names) offer the opportunity to make the money by pandering to the old Acme Boots concept, 'pack um' deep and sell um' cheap.

"Dance"? As that modifiable line from the film classic The Secret of the Sierra Moderays, 'We don't need no stinking dancers!' goes. It is girls, just like Hue Heffner figured out in the 50's with girls dressed up as bunnies, you just need girls. It helps if they are scantly clad, or better still near necked (never really necked, that would just not be holism). Truth is, nothing really changes.

Back to dancers, Starena is a full fledged dancer, a real one. But at a strip club, no one wants any real dancers, let alone a great dancer like Starena. No, just eye candy girls. And beauty is in the eyes of the beholders, and the proof is in the bills they get. A girl at one of the clubs can and will make a couple of hundred dollars in a work period (8 to 10 hours) If she is great looking with a desirable body type she can make up words of hundreds of dollars. Of she is good at working the boys and is Babe-A-Luscious, well now that is the ideal, several thousands of dollars at the right club. That would be Ms. Holly (yes her real name). The one of her bending over in the nurse out fit is my favorite, so hilarious! Holly in a surgeon in a large Texas hospital now, nurses work for her, but she still likes to go to strip clubs and be silly.

What about Starena? So she is a professional dancer, and... a musician, a doctor, and guess what, has modeled professionally (yes nude), and a myriad of other things. The one thing I know about these women, they are all intelligent, in fact, they are all brainy! Smart as hell. And they are all down deep inside sexy, sensual, erotic and driven. There is no melba toast one among them. BUT, as my friend Mr. Dylan has so elegantly sung, "Things have changed".

Timmers, your photo series is interesting and honest not having a breast fixation.

Is there a comparison between men seeing other men in the athletic shower room and seeing lovely womanly figures in the strip club? Of course not. Psychologically at a more primitive level men crave seeing and thinking about those moving lovelies on stage. I imagine if blood samples were taken before going in and after being there a few hours seeing one after another poll dancers displaying the womanly parts... yes the male hormones would show a sky rocketing. !!! And, ladies are also stimulated by seeing sexuality ... active. "This article reviews what is currently known about how men and women respond to the presentation of visual sexual stimuli. " An interesing read:

Are sex studies new, ho ho ho? Is it a new area of study? NO~! "De la prostitution dans la ville de Paris (Prostitution in the City of Paris), an early 1830s study on 3,558 registered prostitutes in Paris, written by Alexander Jean Baptiste Parent-Duchatelet published in 183, has been called the first work of modern sex research.[2] In England, James Graham was an early sexologist who lectured on topics such as the process of sex and conception..." In America, the Stork Baby myth prevailed.

I'm an artist, so my story is art related. One of the greats of the art world, one Guillaume Apollinaire, had engaged the services of a Paris prostitute for the evening. After arriving at her room in the brothel he was rather taken by a small image that she had hung on her wall next to her bed. It took Guillaume but a moment to relies what it was that he was viewing. It was the portrait of a woman stolen from the Louver, Leonardo's The Mona Lisa. Missing for near on a decade. What ensued is a well known story in the art world.

She had purchased out of a display window of what we now call a junk shop in the seedy part of Paris close to where she lived. When questioned about her having the art object (even then considered The Jewel of France art), she stated that she was attracted to the woman in the portraits smile.

If you think this is such a 'story', that it would be imposable to ever repeat, think again. Photography is the wild west even today. In the 1980's Photography was still the vile step child of the world of art, it still is to this day. Back in the 80's The University of Texas at Austin held the greatest photographic collection of early photography. It was under the direction of the Texas Railroad Commission, talk about no vision. As a graduate student, I and several other Graduate students had uncontrolled access to rare jewels of photography, like 'the first photograph' and a bored UT copes who looked at their jobs as punishment rather than what it was, to guard this treasure trove of photography's history.

I have discovered more than half a dozen rare images over the years just waiting to be acquired. The easiest was to buy an old book from the Houston Public Library. I had too, they were going to toss it when I returned it. Tipped into a page was a hand pulled graver print of a seminal print that was in a book on agriculture, that I found buried in the deep tombs of that large library. The last time the book had been checked out was marked on the slip of paper glued to the inside cover of the book, stamped in blue ink Oct. 16 1932. The librarian actually would not check the book out to me but offered to sell me the book for $2.00. What could I do, I paid the two Washington's and took my sales receipt!

Paul Outerbridge Jr. A graduate in Art History was planning around with the idea of doing his PhD dissertation on Mr. Outerbridge. He was told no one would take his PhD seriously in the academic community. It was photography, not real art. The fellow did his research and guess what, he found the location of the warehouse where Outerbridge's trunks were in storage in California. He bough the three trunks and now he is a multimillionaire, and has his PhD but has no use for it!
