Don't throw out your old zooms

The experts on YouTube will tell you that vintage primes are sublime while vintage zooms only marginal paperweights; but they are not lenses that anyone would want to use. These were all taken this morning with a Canon 70-210 FD lens rated at f/4.5. They are good enough for me. The camera was a Canon FTB. I tend to be a Nikon guy; but I love that old Canon. So I'm going to suggest that it might be fun to find one or two of your old zoom lenses and take them out for a walk.

Beautiful set Erich. No. 3 reminds me of the Migrant Camps of the 40's and 50's in the San Juaquin valley of California.

No Migrants here. This is a Methodist Resort town on the New Jersey Shore. These cabins are all around the main "Temple" or Auditorium as it is called. You don't have to be Methodist to buy a house here; but there are still a number of rules that you must abide if you want to be a homeowner here. It's a wonderful place to take a walk with a camera. I'll include a photo of the Auditorium since there seems to be some interest. I'm glad you liked the photos and I appreciate the comment.

I see you spent some time at Ocean Grove. As you mentioned a great place to take a walk with your camera. Seem that old zoom is working out just right for you. I don’t know if you already had it or is a recent purchase, but in any case it looks like a keeper.

Let us know how it goes. I really enjoy shooting with my modern cameras; but I also try to shoot several rolls of film each month because those cameras are so nice to use.

thanks for taking a look and commenting. I have had that lens for quite a while. I'm not quite sure how I got it; but I'm guessing it was part of an ebay deal that probably included a camera as well. I noticed the zoom when I decided to load film in the FTB, so a put that lens on the camera to see how it would perform. I think it did pretty well.

Very enjoyable series of lines, shapes and light.

I don't hang onto old gear, so I don't have to dust them

Thank you. I was surprised at that lens. I'll have to make more use of it now. Gee, that'll be a chore! lol

Good glass is good glass. Unless it gets damaged in storage, it should always produce decent photos. Thanks for taking a look.
