I just bought a new Nikon Zf. To start with its Set-up process, I went to YouTube and followed one of the vlogger’s instructions on how to set-up the camera. After some twicking and adjustments, I tried taking several pictures on Aperture mode. But when I tried to view the pictures, what appears on the View screen are the Metering modes like Matrix, Center Weighted, Spot, etc. and nothing else. No pictures! Did I make a boo-boo on the set-up and adjustments?

Hard to say without knowing how you set it up. I set up my Z8 using Steve Perry's video on the subject, and it works just the way I want it to.

I had a similar experience. It seems that there were more setup videos and spreadsheets online when I setup my D cameras, 800, 810 and 850. The Zf is a recent release so I’m expecting more setup guides to be posted in the coming months. Steve Perry hasn’t done the Zf yet. I recently found a Zf setup video on the Ken Rockwell website. I’m going to give it a try. Good luck.

Is there any chance that set up is covered in the manual?

Load your images in the computer, are they there?
If yes, then you may have your view screen set to exposure modes. You may have done something in setting up the camera that over rides your ability to view your images.

I have received my Nikon Zf yesterday to pair with my 10 years old Df, I down-loaded the reference Guide from internet. That is a complete user's manual. I have no problem to set it up because the Df which I have been using for so long. I love my Df, now the new Zf. The Zf will be only used for prime lenses. This is my first serious mirrorless digi camera, I do have an Olympus Micro 4/3.

There are lots of online setup guides. Look at several. As for your current situation, resetting the camera should get it back to its original state.

Thanks. I will try that suggestion of resetting the camera. Looks like I haven’t done anything wrong during the set up process because I followed the instructions to the dot.

User Manual for ZF. pg47 try pressing the Multiselector up or down. Not sure this will work but does on my D810.

I haven’t tried viewing the images in my pc due I’m out of the country. If the SD card loads the pics in my pc and I would be able to view it, then I must have done something wrong during the camera set up.

You are on a trip so you are in a pinch. Dont know the zf but here is usual answer for modern nikons. As mentioned above, when in playback/review mode, youscroll through availabe screens by tapping up or down on the multi-selector.

To enable or disable which ones are available, in the menu system, go to playback menu and choose playback display options. If iin doubt pick all just to see whst thry are, then go back and deselect the ones you dont care about.

DON'T reset the camera. There are various display options for viewing the shot one of which provides just the parameters. Press the display button to cycle through them one of which should be just the image.

There is a quick start guide included with every new camera. Just use that for first pics. For more detailed understanding, sit down with your camera, and manual, or book or medium of your choice, and go through all the settings as you are viewing the manual, or book or medium of your choice.
