I've had some pretty weird dreams. I like nightmares because I find them somewhat intriguing. I'll have to ask myself why did I dream that. I've had prophetic dreams, one where my niece in Grand Junction, CO was murdered. And then there's what I call "Beyond Dreams", where a neighbor, Jane, had passed two years prior. I had wrestled with this for a number of years as to whether it was a dream or was it a visit.
The event was extremely pleasant. I was in a huge open room, with polished marble floors and walls reaching up into clouds. There was a trough running through the middle of the room with clearer than clear water. You could only tell there was water by the rippling. Anyway, from a corner of the room came Jane, in her white flowing gown. She crossed over the trough and said to me in her West Virginia twang, “Y’know Barre, it’s not so bad over here”. We then went to a small garden and sat on a stone bench. I told her that all her neighbors and friends miss her and love her (Not my normal language), especially Beth and Nancy (We all walked dogs together). She abruptly stood and said that she had to go, her time was up. She went back across the stream and I tried to follow her. She turned and told me that I could’nt follow her, that it was’nt my time yet. Any thoughts? What are your dreams
You need to see a psy if you start into 'visitation' and the like.
Dreams are usually odd and reflect a state of mind, sometime from your body (fling dreams by example) and past events experience (PTSD).

Okay, so you don't believe that this life has an afterlife. I feel sorry for you. This is only about what I 'believe'. Throughout history people have had prophetic dreams, as was the murder of my niece. You never have weird dreams? I'm only bringing this up so people can talk about their dreams. Keep the negativity out!
My dreams usually consist of me falling off of something high, usually a bridge, or me in public buck naked or clad only in my tighty-whities. I never have the really cool dreams like I’m flying, I’m either falling, naked or falling naked.
People can chide others for dreams, but having known people with some ESP and other unexpected experiences, I cannot dispel the idea that there is more out there to be experienced than most of us know.
In 1987 I was a morning radio "news host" on a 50 thousand watt clear channel radio station in San Antonio. As the station was the big kid on the block, we were asked to be the ONLY station with a mic to broadcast and relay to other stations a huge outdoor Mass celebrated by Pope John Paul II. It was "all hands on deck" and I was there to provide a bit of commentary as needed.
I was not Catholic, never seen a Mass and was not all that interested. I did major in "Comparative Religion" years earlier at UCSB, but mostly focused on Hinduism, Buddhism, etc. before I dropped out. Never got to an in depth look at Christianity.
So I was simply a disinterested observer, with no great need to see the Pope, etc. Just doing my job.
Oddly, when the Popemobile drove by, a wave of refreshment washed over me. I just felt really good, relaxed, happy. Imagine a jump cut in a video of you on a boring, rough day and then you relaxed, enjoying a vacation. It was that big a switch.
The only other time this happened to me was when I was still a UCSB student and was walking into an open-air mall to my part time job. The new cars of that year were on display and the minute I rounded a corner something odd washed over me. There, looking at cars (!) with an entourage from the university, was the Dali Lama of Tibet! The feeling hit me before I saw him or even found out who was there. But the Pope one was really more significant. I do think most people have remarkable things happen to them if they are the least bit open to them.

bikinkawboy, those are the kind of dreams I find intriguing. Do you ponder on why you had those dreams? I've had flying dreams only a few times. The one I remember most is when I was walking down a sidewalk and I was overcome with the strong feeling that I could fly, so I spread my arms and jumped forward, slowly taking off. I scraped my chest in doing so, but I was flying. I had a feeling of exhilaration. I said to myself "this is so easy, why could'nt I do this before?" And I was soooo disappointed when I woke up.
Dreams, and dream analysis, are fascinating for multiple reasons. First, I'd recommend C.G. Jung's, "Memories, Dreams and Reflections" and the study guide, too. Second, accept that everything in your dreams is you i.e., an expression or representation of your subconscious. And, consider that dreams, imagination and memory all share the same particular location in your brain... and sometimes we're unsure which is which.
I'd also suggest that, when waking up from your dream, writing it down; dreams seem to dissolve and disappear rather quickly. A dream journal may show patterns and tendencies... and produce remarkable stories...
I once had a great photography dream. I was in Eugene Atget's Paris with my Nikon, shooting all the wonderful street scenes. If you don't know who Eugene Atget was, you could stand to study the history of photography.

The other night I dreamt that I was having a long drawn out conversation with two people across a table (Forget what it was about). There was a young lady sitting to my left who was getting 'friendly' with me. As the conversation progressed she was leaning on me, almost hugging me. When I woke there was my dog, Dingaling, laying right up against me.
Dreams are a way for the brain to fix/repair psyche problems...without danger.
Since you as the front office of your brain...which is made up of a apartments...you don't actually know what is going on in the apartments...you're the last one to know.
The meaning is...pure speculation...since you cannot see behind the curtain.

Dreams are a way to keep your mind busy

Lol...no...it's heck of a lot more than that.

I like to tell myself that dreams are just your brain on vacation, like spring break. It can do all sorts of stupid things without fear of repercussions in the waking world.
In actuality I probably have some kind of deep seated insecurities that I’ve never faced. I like the first one better, makes me feel better about myself. The saying what happens in Vegas stays in Vegas, probably should be what happens in dreamland stays in dreamland.
