I have a tendency to put things in places and forget where I put them. Usually, it's because a lot of time elapses between the putting and the looking. Yesterday, I found a Christmas present I had bought for him. With his birthday coming up, I can't find two things I bought for him a couple of months ago. As a last resort, I'll have to buy them again. If I find the originals soon enough, I can return them - unopened. I'll have to start writing down where I put things.

Haha. I had a recent episode.
One day I went to Wawa and got some stuff, had them scan my key ring Wawa card.
Next day I couldn't find my keys. (Car key is separate.)
After hours of looking all over the house and checking with Wawa, I found them...
in my BACK pocket under my wallet. I always keep them in my front pocket....
Brain fart putting them away at Wawa.......

Start ordering gifts online to be delivered on the day.

And get one of those large calendars with space on each date to write, either wall or desk pad type, and keep notes there. Oh, put it by your computer.

I suggest using all your senses to remember things. Write it so you see it, say it so you hear it, smell, taste, and touch it if you can. I remember so much better when I say out loud I am putting his present in the coat closet.

I have a brand new JOBO film tank. I can't find it. When I got rid of my darkroom I got rid of everything except the JOBO Film tank and the changing bag. I figure I may want to shoot a roll or B&W once in a while and I can process it with just those 2 things.

Obviously you put it in a safe place!

Forget looking for them in the last place you would look. Things know this and apparently run around to the first place and still hide.

My best is to go looking for something else and you may very well run across it. When I'm looking for something evasive I always run across something else that I couldn't find a couple of days prior.

I NEVER put my keys in my back pocket, but that time I did!

And why are things always found in the last place you look???

That will result in you losing your desktop.

Just tell him what you got for him. After all its the thought that counts.

Because if you didn’t find it there, it wouldn’t have been the last place you looked.

maybe because, once you find it, why keep looking?

I find that I am using Apple Airtags and the “Find My” app a lot these days. I use my phone to find my keys, or my iPad to find my phone. I also have one on my camera strap, but I haven’t needed that yet.
