In regards to Real Nikon Lover's thoughts on how fast time seems to go by:

The time getting there can seem like eternity. Looking back, I can close my eyes and almost feel our oldest napping on my shoulder while I read a book. He will be 50 in Dec.
I can also see my wife in that miniskirt that helped get my attention back in early 1973 and the somewhat longer dress from Dec of that year. Hey, my hair still had color back then also. Now it matches that long dress. And those pants of mine, in fashion, Mom worked at Sears they were a gift - so I wore them. And the high platform shoes with heels, also a current fashion, Debra picked those so she would not look taller than me at the wedding.

Our now 29 yo Pediatrician daughter on seeing the first image when she was in high school, "Miles of Legs! Now I know what attracted you to Mom." I think she muttered something about a future dirty old man checking out girls as she walked away.

Sorry for the IQ, scan and enlargement from an antique Polaroid image
Sorry for the IQ, scan and enlargement from an ant...

Now a days my hair matches the dress

Wonderful memories! Thanks for sharing. I graduated high school in 1974. So the times really hit home. Your beautiful bride resembles one of my paramedic partners back in the day. As for the shoes... I had the platform shoes in the white variety along with the white disco bell bottoms and open neck white shirt. Travolta style. Ya baby!

I got just about all the latest fashions, my Mom was manager of the Makeup department at the huge Sears mail order center store in Los Angeles. She and the other department heads kept each other informed about bargains like open box items etc. that were due to go to the basement outlet store.
And Mom believed in practical presents for adults - but our oldest, and at the time only, son got different stuff every year until she retired. It started with baby toys and clothes and by the time she retired he was getting every Transformer in existence, including the special ones based on Sci-fi movies like Battlestar Galactica.

Our Dec 1973 wedding is the second one posted on that thread. Making the reception toast to start the festivities.

We meet at a large supermarket where I worked during college, first she was a customer and then a fellow employee. One night when the members of the "Midnight Shift" closed the store and headed for our regular middle of the night breakfast at a Norm's all the others said they would meet us there and then didn't show. They were playing "match maker" and went somewhere else, leaving the two of us on a sort of first date.

Our wedding was scheduled for early Dec. before the stores in the region picked a date for the annual Christmas party and dance. They picked our wedding day, and the Liquor Department Manager of the store we worked at was the MC and ring leader in that pick. He got together with the other store reps and made it into a wedding party for us. So we got a room at the hotel and then everything that was done, Debra and I had to go first. In the wee hours when it ended and we went to our room we found tons of flowers and a chilled Champagne bottle - special ordered by the MC.

They already knew we intended to work until the middle of the month when my college break started before leaving on the Honeymoon.

Guys, the wife saw the post and reminded me of something. She wasn't really that daring (she had one shorter micro-mini skirt), she was wearing shorts under the skirt.

Oh, well, I have to edit my memory fantasy a bit.

I loved your "wedding" chapel photo.
No days, the (youngsters) think wearing tennis shoes with a tux,
makes them cooler than the ancient people watching them stroll
down the aisle.
(By the way?) The chairs in that wedding venue, photo, are the same
vintage as the old movie theater seats that we pulled out of
a Marine Corps Base theater. They were placed in the theater during
the end of WW2. It's nice to see that "old furniture" isn't tossed
out just because the calendars get flipped over.
