Looks like we are having less and less participation. I thought about stopping its section, but let's try something else instead. I will leave it open to as many variations as you would like to submit. This will let the regulars still have some fun trying new techniques. You can do or add anything you want to the first image even add some AI if you think it will add some interest. Some of us are running out of images and the ones posted are without enough substance or excitement. With more than one submission, you could try one edit near the original and then another way out there with additional interesting elements.
In the event of a tie, more images being posted but not more voters, the first one in the tie will get the win.
Let's see how this goes through February. If we get a little more participation I'll keep My Image Your View going. Any additional input will be greatly appreciated.
Jim
There was never any stipulation that the files posted for editing had to be our own. I just googled
raw files for download and saw quite a few options. All of the examples that I saw were for free downloads.
If the raw files are too big for UHH they can be converted to jpg and/or a reduced resolution tiff version.

Aside from the title you mean? The one that says "My Image..."

OK, there's that minor point
. If we want to we can define "my image" as being any image we're providing for editing, as long as it was sourced legitimately. It would require that the winner select an image he/she considers to be suitable for editing, so it's not totally impersonal since there's still input from the winner. As a gesture of acknowledgement the poster could state the source of the image when he/she posted it.

For me who owns the image I'm editing is a non-issue, it's always someone else's image.
One issue or question I've had however is what sort of images are submitted for us to edit? It "seems" the requirement is Landscapes only? I keep waiting for someone to submit something other than a landscape. For example, Jim-Pops just posted a really nice B&W still life. Perhaps the original photo would have been a nice one for submission for editing? How about an old photo with lot's of repair's needed? I know when I won I was afraid to submit other than a landscape as I had a feeling only landscapes were wanted? I do enjoy editing landscapes though, so just a random thought. Myself if I have time on my hands and see a picture that strikes my editing fancies, I'll submit something.
I've always wondered why more people don't participate, but no clue as to why. Surely more than a dozen or so on the Hog enjoy editing photo's?

I've wondered the same thing. I'm not sure who started the MIYV but was given the task when "ebrunner" didn't have time for it anymore. I'm open to any type of picture as you might be suggesting. I'm happy to see some response to this thread, we just need to find a way to keep people interested enough to post their interpretation or improvement.

I like the idea of multiple submissions. Even though I believe in the past we were allowed to submit two entries. This challenge is meant to help each of us to improve our PP skills. At least for me that is the reason.
This weeks submission I think would be a prime example of doing various editing. I do like this MIYV. One because it gets me to edit an image I have no emotional attachment to. And two seeing how others view and edit the same photo. Is also enjoyable to see others results.

If I remember right it was St3v3M who was also the originator of FYC. Encouraging a greater variety of photos for editing would help to keep interest alive. It could include an occasional portrait or candid as well as things like still life, street photography and recoveries/repairs. It'll help us to keep our editing skills well rounded.
I enjoy this task of editing an image which isn't mine, since no emotional attachment as Frank has already mentioned. I also enjoy seeing the different ideas each of us might have, given the same image in front of us. If I win, I'm up a creek so to speak, as I don't photograph a lot of landscapes, and I thought that landscapes offered the most variations of processing. My general processing tends more towards ethereal and high key, but I want to keep my processing skills current, so I work hard at the MIYV submissions. I try to submit each week, but that doesn't always work time wise.
I'm happy going along with whatever guidelines and/or types of images submitted as the group may decide. I will try harder to submit each week and hope this weekly topic continues. Bev
I hope this evolves to more variations besides landscapes. They were beginning to look like so much of the same thing. I do hope you get more participation. I may try a few myself even though I am pp challenged.
I hope My Image Your View survives - I find it challenges me to learn new techniques.
