Johns Hopkins Glacier - old photograph

Taken on an August 2017 Alaska Cruise, the glacier was approximately 2 miles away on a very hazy day so I thought I'd do an old photo effect on it. 2 paper textures, grain, and a scratches layer, as well as several adjustment layers. Then a gradient map of very light blue to light yellow shadow to highlights at 10% opacity, with 2 other elements added using brushes, the small boat on the left and the plane with contrails on the upper left. Thought I'd share.

I prefer it without the plane. The boats help us understand the scale, though after having seen Mt Rainier in person, I know we can't really understand this kind of size from photographs.

The hazy light adds mystery, the textures support the rugged grandeur. Marvelous work, Dave!

Thank You Linda, I argued with myself about the plane. I've seen the top of Mt. Rainier twice flying into Seattle for cruises, I would love to see it in person. Delighted you enjoyed it !!!

In travels, we see nature's Geo-structures like this and it puts or biggest man-made structures in perspective.

UncleBuck, did you notice the Boar's head far right about 3/4 up? The eye, snout and a couple of tusks are clear.

Gorgeous. You had a fantastic subject; but the processing is first rate and that, in my opinion, makes this more than documentation. Very creative. Well done.
