Weeks and weeks of gray, fog, snow and rain.

Feedback welcomed. I won't be cropping out the telephone pole though I can't explain exactly why Something about an unexpected element in an otherwise remote looking terrain?

Thanks for your time!

If you like it, keep it!! I see it as one of three elements in your photo.

Thanks very much, Mark. It does seem to balance the composition and add interest - IMO. I know many folks really hate telephone poles in their pictures

This is a nice one, Linda, and I certainly would also keep the pole. It gives a sense of place to the image.

We used to talk about sense of place when teaching/discussing literature, and I believe the term has relevance to photography as well.

As for the telephone pole. It’s the interaction between man and nature. There isn’t always a need to wipe out parts of a photograph, to get a final results.

I'm one of those who hates telephone poles. But I'll admit this one adds balance. If it were removed, it would leave quite a large blank spot. I did do some playing. I really like that little dark spot on the right hand side. But if the image were cropped a bit, the balance might be better. I don't know that if that would make it better, likely only different.

Thanks John! Absolutely "sense of place" has relevance in photography. MinnieV hosted an informative share topic way-back-when in For Your Consideration. The most recent series I've had the pleasure of viewing on UHH is ebrunner's: https://www.uglyhedgehog.com/t-798283-1.html

Kathy, it was your voice I heard in my head when I decided I wanted to keep the pole

Re cropping, similar to when I include a lot of sky, I'm fond of a wide aspect here because of the long distant views we have in this valley and the spaciousness suggested. I see your point, though, and very much appreciate your input.
