Thank you Barre for looking in on my soon-to-end mini-series, glad to hear that you liked these pics.
I have to say, I much prefer to see these beautiful alpine landscapes rather than city scenes of Europe.

I certainly enjoy these alpine landscapes from the depth of my heart, but I am also happy to be in the cityscapes, particularly in the old core of old towns. Problem is that you really can only easily enjoy the alpine landscapes for about 4 month of the year: mid May at the earliest to late September and basically only in good weather - and then of course again in winter if you are into winter sports. On the other hand, interesting historic town cores you can enjoy at any time of the year. Also, as we get older, the alpine habitats unfortunately slowly glide out of our reaches: Too hard to get to, difficult to navigate once you are there. So we are trying to make the most out of it while we still are agile enough.
Beautiful landscapes Joe. Those narrow walking paths along sheer edges make me very nervous!

For the remainder of this series, I am now switching back to SWITZERLAND. I start off with a set of images taken during our spring trip in the Valais, a large mountain canton in the southwestern corner of Switzerland. With the families of our children, we rented a nice wooden chalet at the edge of the fashionable mountain resort CRANS-MONTANA, well situated to make short drives into other mountain valleys or hikes in the greater vicinity of the town, some of which I will present in my images below. One of the very interesting and unique features in this part of Switzerland are the BISSES/Ancient Irrigation Channels constructed under very dangerous conditions hundreds of years ago to funnel water to dry areas. Parallel hiking paths have been constructed to a number of these Bisses, and we hiked some of these, as illustrated below.

Thanks Mark. Switzerlands two real mountain cantons are Grison (of which I have presented a few pictures) and Valais (where these images come from) and they both have beautiful land- and mountainscapes. The walking paths are actually quite ok, but you do have to be careful, particularly with children - we all did well.
