The foot on the Nikon 80 to 400 is very short does anyone know of a brand where the foot is a little longer or can you add to the foot to make it a little longer

Nikon has been making super short feet in my view, much too small for me to use them.

You can get a longer foot or add a lens plate to the foot.

And use two screws to attach it to the lens foot or it will keep coming loose

I found that it was a real wrestling match to rotate my Nikon 80-400 to shoot a vertical so a tour leader told me about a Kirk foot. Go to kirkphoto.com and look for NC-80-400GN. I ordered it the day I got home and what a world of difference! My lens rotates very easily now. Good luck!

The foot on the 200-500 is a great length, I used it to carry the lens around Florida's wetlands.

I like that. Would you happen to have a link or name to what this product is called.

I also added a dab of blue Lok-tite to each screw, to ensure they don't come loose. Blue can be loosened using standard hand tools.

You could pick up a lens bracket called FOTGA L200. It manages to focus and support a loooong zoooom lens. I tried to include a website but it can be googled.

A Kirkfoot looks functional. However, I am partial to my FOTGA L200. I had no difficulty with my Sigma 150-600mm Lens. I was able to focus and support that chunk of glass. For under $50 it was a worthwhile investment.
