Smart phone tripod brackets are available. The bracket attaches to your tripod’s camera plate using the standard screw, and then mounts to the tripod just like any other camera. See attached example pics.

They are available from different companies and the price range varies greatly.

I’m just wondering how many people here know of them and use them?

This is what I use if I want to use a tripod:

I have something similar but probably not as robust as this one appears to be. It stays permanently on the tripod so all I have to do is slip the iPhone into the bracket and I’m ready to go. It came with a small remote shutter release for the iPhone. I don’t recall what the brand is.

So you use one cool!

What do you use it for? Portraits, still life, macro, landscape photography?

I just ordered this smartphone mount from B&H yesterday. One of those deeply discounted sale items, $19.95 (regular $49.95), so figured I'd give it a try. A long product name!

Benro ArcaSmart Sidearm Camera Tripod Mount & Smartphone Clamp.

Arca swiss mount, good for mounting both a regular camera and phone, or just the phone only. I'll report back after it's actually in my hands.

Landscapes mostly, sometimes macro.
Most of my landscape shots are hand-held though since I found out the best way for me to hold the phone in my left hand and control it with my right.

Point of clarification: I was referring to the bracket you show, not Longshadow’s. His is different, and I haven’t seen one like that before. And just now I was perusing Amazon and they have a ton of smartphone brackets for a tripod and they range in price from around $7.95 to more than you probably would want to spend on a smartphone tripod bracket.

I've collected a handful of them ranging from one that is tiny, foldable and pocketable. Others are stronger and bulkier. I've modified one to grip my small DJI drone so I can attach a handle. That turns it into a hand held, fully stabilized video camera when I'm in a no fly zone.

The other use is to simply mount the phone on a tripod or light stand to serve as a second camera in a multi camera video shoot.

I have used an Ulanzi bracket as spring and knob tensioner to hold phone. Arca plate and tripod screw hole on bottom. Use it with a tripod and also with the platypod stick and platy pod base plate. They are easy to use and light weight. Love the set up. They were also inexpensive.

Hi
Yes it acts like a regular ball head loosen the knob on the back and you can move it in any direction. Horizontal, Vertical an in a circle. The bottom has an arca plate and tripod screw holes. The phone holder is spring and knob tighten. Bought it at Amazon.

The mount I have is from Kobra Tech and it swivels, also, so you can orient your phone vertically or horizontally. just loosen the knob a tad and swivel the phone however you want it.
