Flying into Calgary, renting car and spending 10 days in Canada. Planning to shoot from Banff to Jasper area with a VRBO house in each area for 5 days. Need advice on where to go for great shooting and lodging that is fairly inexpensive. Not against paying for a guide or workshop for a couple of days. Mostly interested in wildlife and landscape. Names of any guide books that might be helpful would be great as well. Going second week in June. Wondering if Harvey Heights might be a good base camp for the Banff area? Any recommendations greatly appreciated!

The best guide to photographing the Canadian Rockies that I know of is Darwin Wiggett's book (or ebooks) "How to Photograph the Canadian Rockies." My version, now out of print, describes possible sites with roadside mile markers, all in road mile marker order.

Try and stay at Bow Lake Lodge along Icefield Parkway. The photo ops at the front door and lake front are amazing and so are the hiking trails along the lake.

June is still on the cool side. July and August are the peak season and lodging costs are also at the peak.

My wife nd I have stayed in Canmore a number of times. It’s just south of Banff. Two of my favorite places are Lake Louise and Moraine Lake. But the scenery everywhere is lovely!

Athabasca Falls is a great stop. Also check out Sunwapta Falls. It's a bit of a walk to the lower Sunwapta Falls but if you like waterfalls... Sunwapta Falls lodge is convenient and a very nice place to stay 53 km south of Jasper. I drove up the Icefields Parkway in late September 2023 and made many, many U-turns to take photographs of all sorts of sights. I think you'll find so many mountains, forests, and waterfalls to shoot that you will wish you had booked a place to stay somewhere in the middle. You will need to hook up with a tour to get to Moraine Lake because they don't allow private cars up there anymore. Take lots of memory cards. You'll have a great trip!
