My Third Anniversary

January 27th of 2021 I did my first project in Photoshop. Photoshop had always intimidated me until Jack, Curmudgeon, posted about a pencil sketch technique and the title of his post was, So Easy Even I Can Do It, based on an approximately 3 minute long video by Anthony Morganti. Jack's title intrigued me , so I watched the video and the journey began. Yesterday I was going through some of my older photos and ran across the shot this anniversary composite was based on. The photo was taken in 2015 at the Grant County Museum in Sheridan, Arkansas. It was hung on a wall probably 10 feet high in a room with no space for me to get further back, so I had to take the shot looking upwards at it, and the perspectives are distorted as can be imagined at such a angle.

Someone local had constructed, painted the flag and lettered the white stripes, I always liked what the shot's about and when I saw it again yesterday thought it's probably time to see if I can do something about the distortion, and that's how it became my 3rd anniversary project.

I've blended in a composite I did a few months ago, the name of that composite being, Don't Take It For Granted. The statue of Grant on horseback is from pixabay and all other elements are from my library. I'll apologize for the length of the post, and I've already decided if anybody fusses at me I'll just tell them it's Jack's fault

Thought 'd share and I'll add the original photo.

If you would like, please click on the picture, doing so will link you to the gallery page where the shot can be seen in higher resolution and full page. Thanks for viewing and Have A Blessed Day !!!

Your comments are great, Dave. Enjoyed your story very much!

Re the content of the image, one can hope that future generations will find their way out of extremism and come together to repair and preserve the country.

Great idea to come back to this photo and re-do it. Shows how far you've come in just a short time. Awesome.
