Another use for bird photographs

Being a birder first and a bird picture taker second sometimes photographs are useful for identifying birds that are too far away for optical ID. In this case there were about half a dozen little sandpipers, birders call them "peeps", at the sewage treatment plant yesterday. I managed to get a few very long range shots of them. Using the magic of Post Processing I managed to get enough detail to ID at least one of them as a Least Sandpiper.

Thanks Joe. A few years ago I met two German birders who were making a whirl wind tour of the US. They had top of the line Nikon equipment and were shooting everything that had feathers or fur. They said they didn't have time to stop and identify anything while they were here but would compile a list when they got home and off the went. Wish I'd gotten an email address
