Someone's backyard basketball court revisited yesterday (the August version is here).

Composed for a flickr theme, "Balance and Visual Weight."

Primary fanciful edit is Studio 2's "sketch outline" at lower opacity. I also selectively increased red saturation.

Feedback welcomed!

It took me a while to figure this one out! I wasn't too sure of the location of the two nets...then after I looked at the summer variation I figured it out. Great perspective! Lots of empty space toward the top of the image, though it adds to the mystique. Nice work, Linda!

Thanks Kathy. Do you recall our conversation in the previous topic? I told you the stanchions were leaning, but yesterday it occurred to me it was the slope of the hill I was parked on and my twisted torso shooting out the car window

Thanks so much, Veronica! They are located at the top of a steep rise above the road from which I was shooting. I could replace the white (foggy) sky with a bit of soft clouds, but at the moment I'm happy with its contrast against the heavily textured sagebrush & weeds.

I think you fulfilled the Flickr theme. But for me other than fulfilling the theme, it leaves me wondering why would you take the shot. I seem to be going against the grain on this one.

I am not sure what the theme is in this one. Also, there is an excess of foreground. Indeed some assignments are difficult. Viewing the August image, I found it interesting and well done.

Thanks very much for commenting, Frank.

For me it's one of those "this is too weird to pass by" shots. If not interested in the strangeness of the scene (portable basketball system adjacent to sagebrush, and now some snow), or in the general contrasts of shapes, then I agree there's not much left. There is no reason to point out you're "going against the grain." As you know, I welcome all viewpoints and conversation, just as you do
