I like the b&w treatment a lot especially the trees which are RIGHT THERE but not blown out. The birdnerd in me wonders why a bird house would be placed so low. There is a feeling of wildness here that wanted this processing.

Really like the tonality of the trees and the bird house; one mimicking the other.
Got a kick out of the tree on the right......adjacent level to the bird house, it looks like a pair of eyes looking just a bit down on the man made bird house. As in, " Huh?? Bird House?? WE'RE the Bird House" !! toooo funny.

I checked out a few of your other flickr images and IMO they were all up to your usual standard except this one. I wouldn't fault the processing but it seems to be lacking a strong subject. I don't find the bird box very compelling and the other potential subjects are a strainer post and some birch trees which I don't find very compelling either. I think it might be a classic case of being misled by pleasant surroundings (which are notorious for giving us a twitchy shutter release finger).

Thanks very much, Phil. I wonder if it's a bluebird box. There are quite a few of those around, and at that height.

Thanks, R.G. The trees and textures caught my eye, for sure. And maybe a little yearning for spring and baby birds...

I LIKE THIS! It's absolutely delightful. Just the right combination of reality and non. I love the texture in the post. I never built a birdhouse as a child, but my grandfather did. He always put the house on the post so that the "door" faced toward the post. That gave the birds a "porch" for their house. But then every house he built for humans had a porch also.
