Shooting Around the House.
It’s winter, cold, tons of snow and just unpleasant out and Fstop12 suggested I look around the house for something to shoot. So earlier I was stalking around looking for something and noticed my wife’s African violet blooming. I shot this with my iPhone 13 Pro Max using natural light coming in from the window behind the plant. I should have used my light tripod with the iPhone mount on it, but I propped my elbows on the cabinet top and carefully shot. I didn’t think much about it until Fstop recommended looking around the house for subjects, then I remembered this one.
Thank you. There were several blossoms on the plant, but the others were wilted. This was the long holdout, so I took a photo of it. I appreciate your comment.
A beautiful cure for cabin fever, Greg!

Thank you Mike. I appreciate your comment.

That is a top notch shot. The best part you stayed warm while you shot it. Beautiful shot see what you can find when you start looking. Just got home from work long day.

Thank you, Johnny. You’re right, much warmer inside. She usually has a couple African violets blooming but the other one seems to be on its way out, unfortunately. I appreciate your comments.

So you have african violets! We do as well. And that is a very good pic! I have some similar pics with much more $ equipment involved.
The African Violets are really unique plants. They have crystals on the flowers that sparkle in sunlight. And then there are the leaves, very unique. All different. And how the heck do you raise then in Alaska? Grow lights? Ok must be.

They love sitting in front of a window, even if it’s not sunny out. We have one that grew really fast and Peggy had to pull it out and thin it out some. It was getting root bound. It may be cold outside, but we’re warm and toasty indoors.
I’m glad you liked the shot and I appreciate your nice comments.

I did like it and you are welcome. My mom had African Violets in a north window of our house in Illinois where I grew up. About 60 miles south of "the loop" in Chicago. It would hit -20 in January. Outside not inside. LOL.
They are unique and beautiful plants.

They certainly are and we love ours.
Wingpilot, for Christmas our daughter got me a birdfeeder that fastens directly to the window with suction cups. It took a week or so for the birds to find it but now I have constant entertainment and opportunities to shoot. So far I have nothing great but it’s been fun anyway. I’ll add some photos when I get a chance.

We had a bird feeder that hung from a hook on the corner of the roof over our deck. The birds liked it but we get a lot of high wind and it blew away!

This might solve the problem.
That’s a good idea. I’ll have to keep my eye out for that. Maybe Lowe’s carries something like that. Thanks.
