I do understand and in a way I sympathize with those who have to work with less than staller female models. I get it, you work with a Nikon because it is the best, or its Canon, or Sony, even the likes of a Leica. But to speak truth to this audiance, the lens, the camera, post processing tools, these are no answer to creativity. And no, it is not entirely in the court of the model either.
In nude photography there is a thing that is just like nature, it is symbiosis. It is the connection between the artist (read photographer here) and the model. Basically, it is rather difficult to make creative works that involve nude women without that deep biological connection between the 'she' and the artist (here I am speaking to male artists, there is a huge difference when it is a female artist).
I do look at the figure photos that are posted here, I don't make comments because of that old truth, "Don't say something unless you say something nice" is not it either. I just don't want to return to the past where most posted that I was snobbish, a pain in the ass or just contrite. I actually look to see just how far someone like myself can push the edge and not get sucker punched.
To be clear and obtuse at the same time let me quote that revered despot of history Sir Isaac Newton, "If have seen further than others, it is by standing upon the shoulders of giants". How do I get away with this? My friends are artist and some are truly giants of the past century, but mostly they are friends and human beings like myself.
Oh, and that part about nature and symbiosis as an example, to the nay sayers, Find a copy in a science library of the big book on opisthobranches; around 1965 you will find an entry for a newly discovered Tectibranch, discovered by Jeffrey Norman and Timothy Summa. You will discover that Jeff named it for his mother and there were three found that night. Hummmm Timmy knows science, especially biology, who would have guessed!
Back to the point I'm indulging in. I'm a modern artist working with photography as a tool of expression. The chosen area of most of my work is definitely not of the record type, but frankly of an erotic bend. That is why it is always 'HOT', sort to speak. Many here find it uncomfortable, which is ok, but it is never 'cheap', just plain naughty (yes, I do love that phrase!). It is vary much a sense of the times we live in, sort of like when that babe of babes Bettie Page lived. Yes kids, the 50's was a vary naughty time, just under the radar. Were do you think to 60's came from? HELLO!
Add to this, I am a Scorpio, wait for it, born to a Scorpio mother (on her birthday!). Thelma liked to tell people that the best description beyond her being a Mom and a housewife was that she was a broad. So hot!
Oh, everyone is dying to know, who is this VADA chick? Well she is a woman who I met some 15 plus years ago. We are buddies. When her husband get to being an idiot we talk about it and I convince her once again that she is a ditz and an air head, extremely intelligent, gifted and talented even though she has found her nitch in science. But she married her absolute opposite and he adores her. Plus finding a new male and training him would be tough. Jason is exactly who she needs to balance her life out, and he will do anything she wants.
The big question, no, I do not trade spit with VADA, but I am constantly coming up with new a naughty fun things to get her into. Timmy is a vary bad influence. Now, now, VADA is not the only woman I 'influence' to be naughty/bad. You see, I'm the male American enigma, I am all about the art and creating the art, I chase skirts but it is all in the service of making/creating art. Yes, it is all a grand smoke screen.
But why you may be asking? Why indeed! Simple. Quoting Mr. Bob Dylan, "What d I got to do to get out of going through all this twice!" To obtuse Tim. So instead lets just leave it with, "Ballad of a Thin Man."

Got to go, Kat is on the way over with a pile of new 'things' to add to the studios holdings (props, accessories, what ever), another small fish tank (these are good to have) and she has a scientific tank, the ones with stainless steel dividers so you can separate the critters with glass dividers. Clothes and I just bet some other tadry fun things. It is like Christmas for an artist.
